Joseph A. Lintner and family papers, 1817-1927.

Papers consist of personal letters, postcards, a document showing property ownership, and items reflecting the scientific, religious, and recreational interests of Lintner and members of his family. Included are catalogs of Lintner's collection of insects and his entomological library; a scientific paper on insect voices, presented at the Fortnightly club, the National Academy of Science, and the Brooklyn Institute (1893-1894); and certificates (1817-1877) showing the educational and religious credentials and affiliations of members of the Lintner family (many pertain to the American Tract Society). Pamphlets (1876-1906) include items related to travel in the United States and abroad; concert and theater programs; historical and literary works; political reports; and a report on injurious insects written by Lintner as New York state entomologist (1885). Newspaper clippings include articles from the New York state papers "Buffalo Express," "New York Tribune," and "The Rome Daily Sentinel" (1890-1906).
